Ex Curia International
Ex Curia International is born out of its founder’s desire to provide a global platform to aficionados in the International Dispute Resolution sphere. ECI was created with the intent to unify diverse opinions which exist in the international ADR community. An individual’s opinions are guided by one’s personal experiences, circumstances, ethnicity and background. Our founder is of the ideology to allow these voices to cumulate at one place, which in turn promotes one to make a conscious decision for oneself. ECI intends to aid the process of picking up best practices to be applied in one’s own jurisdiction.
Founder's Message
Ananya Agrawal
It is my privilege to welcome you as the Founder, Editor-in-Chief, and Host of Ex Curia International. Ours is truly a unique initiative and one that did not happen overnight. Instead, the vision of Ex Curia International was the result of several journeys, some of my own.
Most people know me as the winner of the Vth NLS NMC Negotiation Competition, 2019, the first National University of Juridical Sciences (NUJS), Kolkata, India team to do so, more so in my first year of law school. Also, the Indian Representative to the 22nd International Negotiation Competition, Tokyo, Japan, 2020. The ADR enthusiast who won a special award at the 15th International Chambers of Commerce (ICC) Commercial Mediation Competition, Paris, France, 2020, in only my second year of law school. I believe these are just labels we attach to people to make sense of them. Therefore, for the next few minutes, I would like to show you the real me. The real reason I do what I do.
Having been exposed to the harsh realities of life from a very young age, I quickly understood the power of communication. I spent most of my childhood in Europe, UK and India. I had the privilege of experiencing and living between various cultures, languages, and thought-processes from the days I could only crawl. These experiences became the forth-runner of instilling values and qualities which make me the person today.
Ex Curia International is an initiative to combine my passion for International Dispute Resolution with my understanding of the importance of being exposed to a diverse forum of opinions. I believe the solution to the world lies in efficient communication. I fail to think that ADR practices any longer remain alternative, rather should become the first resort to a problem.
I encourage you to take some time to explore our forum and better your understanding of us. I hope that once you do, you will feel, as I do that Ex Curia International is working towards making more peace-makers in the world.

Testimonials
I am excited to be part of Ex Curia International as an advisor. This initiative is a very timely one. Indeed, at a time where Mediation, after having struggled in various international markets, is developing at full speed and, at the same time, more and more young and brilliant students want to become full-time mediators, creating a platform that motivates both students and international practitioners makes full sense. It makes no doubt in my mind that creating a common space for pro-active students and seasoned professionals will generate more and more incredible talents and besides the obvious young generation's training will provide practitioners with a vibrant inspiration.
ECI is a bold and timely initiative and its instigators are to be congratulated on their breadth of vision and tenacity in bringing it to market. Mediation has long struggled in international markets with issues of standardisation/adaptation; by simultaneously bringing together perspectives of practitioners, academics and commentators from around the world, ECI offers a valuable repository of research, commentary and reflection on local and global ADR issues. As organisations and individuals grapple with the uncertainties of the decade ahead, amicable dispute resolution has an integral and global role to play in charting a productive course around threats to health, the economy and the environment. Embodying the collaborative spirit which is the lifeblood of ADR, ECI offers leadership and inspiration in equal measure
I welcome Ex Curia International's (ECI) ambitious initiative led by young students. It provides the (otherwise scarce) opportunity for students and ADR enthusiasts to publish their work. I wish ECI in fostering ADR talent my very best!

Human ingenuity has always found ways to conquer differences and forge strong alliances. Decongestion of dockets and evolving new techniques are crying needs of our times.
